Community Resiliency

lighthouse and beachDelaware Coastal Hazards and Coastal Resiliency

Wendy Carey with Delaware Sea Grant was the lead investigator on this project, with Delaware DNREC, to help coastal communities reduce their susceptibility to coastal hazards. The project is helping communities increase their awareness of coastal hazards through the creation of a website that provides information and resources to improve communities' resilience to hazards. The effort is engaging stakeholders at multiple levels (local, state, and federal) and creating a level of public awareness that will enhance existing coastal hazard mitigation efforts. Working with communities and decision makers, the project partners are providing web based access to sound science-based information. The ultimate goal is that this will help create hazard resilient coastal communtities through a risk wise community based partnership approach.
